Nebulizer Therapy
Nebulizer Therapy is a type of respiratory treatment that uses compressed air to break up medical solutions into small aerosol droplets that can be directly inhaled from the mouthpiece of the device.
Compressor Equipment: A Small Volume Nebulizer (SVN) is primarily used as a drug delivery device to administer medication in the form of a mist inhaled into the lungs. A SVN system is composed of a portable compressor, tubing, and a reusable nebulizer kit, which may include a mask or a mouthpiece. Delivering medication directly to your lungs can be an effective home therapy for opening airways and delivering pulmonary medications.

Types of Treatment
Nebulizer treatments can include both rescue and maintenance therapy types and is based off your physician’s order:
Rescue Nebulizer Therapy: Rescue Nebulizer therapy may be essential to managing sudden respiratory symptoms commonly used by patients with asthma or COPD during acute episodes. It typically involves inhaled bronchodilators, which can help to quickly relax and open the airways providing rapid symptom relief.
Maintenance Nebulizer Therapy: Maintenance Nebulizer Therapy is the regular use of a nebulizer to deliver medication for chronic respiratory conditions. It typically involves inhaled corticosteroids or long-acting bronchodilators to help manage symptoms, reduce inflammation and prevent acute episodes. This therapy is a part of a daily routine and when taken on a regular basis, these medications may improve lung function, keeping airways open and reducing exacerbations.
